Getting In

Let’s think about the ways your family’s tree could have begun it’s American branch:

Crossing the land bridge thousands of years ago.

Invading and brutally slaughtering the descendants of the people from # 1.

Selling ones’ self into temporary servitude.

Being forcefully abducted from your homeland and brutally transported across oceans.

Being recruited to work on the railroads and then being viciously exploited while doing so.

Entering the country as one of tens of millions with virtually no restriction pre-1940s.

Entering “illegally” after white supremacist politicians created racist restrictions on immigration.

Being granted asylum or temporary status, quite likely to have it revoked during a Republican administration.

Having the level of wealth, privilege, and time to “do it the right way”.
